My Pulsar and Ferrari

( Some people might find this gross. You have been warned )

I have a nature/animal loving family. There's always been at least one dog in the family since my father was little... and even before that.

Incidentally, most of them have either been called Bobby, Blaxie, Major ... or ..(very surprisingly) Kitty!!

Though dogs certainly have been the most popular pets, there have been pet cats [even wild ones ;)], birds, fish and loads of other animals too.

I've even seen my dad stroke and pet a frog!! And it didn't seem to mind in the least. :)

Also, since we've spent a lot of time in our village where there are all kinds of creatures, we're pretty used to being bitten by insects and not minding them. So it's weird (and amusing) when my friends go eeeek!, aarrghh!!, bhaagooo!! on spotting even the tiniest of insects.

This monsoon, some tiny snails managed to sneak into the house. This got me all excited ... and .. a lightning bolt of an idea struck me -- maybe they could be my pets? :D

So i got small box which had earlier contained chocolates, washed it clean, put pieces of some green veggies, put a small piece of chalk inside (in case they need calcium) and their home was ready! And then i put 2 snails in the box - the biggest and the smallest one.

...and they got names too!

This tiny one was call Ferrari

... and this one, Pulsar. (Pardon the bad photography. They're taken in bad light :-\)

Can't tell how proud i was of doing this ... my own pet snails!

Err... secretly, i also wanted to see if Pulsar would eat Ferrari. It didn't. :P

In fact they didn't do much. Eat-Sleep-Poop-Repeat was all they did.

Even so, except when i had to clean their box - which was every alternate day - i enjoyed their company :) ... and with all those nutritious green veggies, and my love and care, they grew too!

But damnit! All good/bad/creepy/slimy/gross things come to an end. No, they didn't die, silly! Winter was approaching...and i couldn't keep them without proper 'infrastructure' to keep them warm. I had to let them go to find a nice place to hibernate. Must say, even after 3 months of *ahem* love and care, the farewell wasn't quite teary-eyed enough. Hmm ... I wonder why...

We adopted a street pup recently and haven't named him yet. Can you suggest some good names? Oh, wait! Maybe we should name him Bobby? ... or Blaxie.. or Major??

PS: ... or FURarri ?? lol. :P
