Ye Gyaan bhi kabhi Gobbledygook tha
I have been meaning to write for a while now. But translating gobbledygook into englees.. well, it's tough! But do you see me giving up? No. Of course, when you see me give up, you probably won't see me (give up).
Ok, coming to the pointlessness ... I'm just trying to put my thoughts into perspective here.. and i accept that i fall prey to what i'm against too ..but i don't quite understand why people try to explain their art...and why other people are suckers for the explanation. The work will speak for itself (and probably make people speak about it too) if it is good. And if it isn't, the explanations just make it annoying. Why would one want to back up a below average piece of art...or even a truely brilliant piece for that matter... with fancy words? Any kind of visual art has several meanings...probably as many as the number of people who see it. A few words from the artist to lead the audience to his general thoughts are ok..but confining the creation to a particular idea only does gross injustice to it.
The same logic would apply (almost as strictly) when this is viewed the other way round. Making up for bad writing with a picture flicked off the net...or using a picture to add on to an already great work. Why fix a picture in the minds of the readers when they can otherwise draw much more beautiful and more fluid pictures in their minds with those words alone?
When i see or read something it becomes mine - in the sense that i can choose to view it in any form i like... and draw my own conclusions...or just ponder over it aimlessly...that is, in either case, exercise my mind.
If both mediums are used together, they inhibit the viewer's creativity...and one of them, therefore, is redundant.
Redundant creativity - now that's a scary thought!
I am done for the day. Good night !

Times and me
Memories! Amazing how they can just jump up and get into action at a fraction of a moment's notice.
I read a quote and was instantly transported to a time 8 years ago ..(damn! that makes me feel old)...when I thought i knew Life...!! It makes me laugh at how different my views are now! I may or may not laugh at myself when i look back on this time years later ... but if i could meet the old me right now, I'd ruffle my hair and say, "Chill, kid." :)
(Unrelated. Serious. But just for fun)
Life isn't necessarily complicated but it'd still be a lot simpler if we could stick out our thumb, towel in hand, and hitch a ride to outer space. It'll all be good then...except for the Vogon poetry ;)
Cheers!

Dear People-who-use-swear-words,
How do you do it?
Usually, the worst I can bring myself to say is "Damn", or "Saali Makdi" in Channel V Bai ishtyle.

Who woe is me?
I am not my Identity. I am Myself !
Therefore, woe is not me.
:)
Note to self: think this over.

Tagao
THIS BLOG IS ALIVE !
I had nothing to write about in a long long time. Then, along came a tag ! :D
I was tagged on Flickr and had to post a photo of myself and write 10 things about myself. I've done something like that here before but I'll do it again anyway. Because repeat telecasts can be Good.
1. I am a girl. (i dont think many people on flickr knew that until recently)
2. I love comics! :D
3. I bite my nails. :-/
4. While writing, i think i scratch off things more frequently than an average person. (Now, even my picture has scratches.)
5. I am very particular about the order of tabs in my browser. It's like a recently developed OCD-thing.
6. My latest craze is street photography!
7. I wish i knew some photography enthusiasts so we could make a club-thing and go photographing.
8. I love quotes. ["Reality is for people who are out of touch with comics"]
9. Though blabbering about myself comes naturally to me, writing 10 things is turning out to be difficult!
10. Tenth point at last! I know i can think of something !! I know i can .. wait! ... bah, forget it.
---------------------------------
Ok. The latest goings on are:
# I've made a blog on tumblr for photographs. In case you're interested, you can subscribe to it/add it to your blogroll.
# I had two colourful shiney beetles as pets a while back. Had to let them go coz they metamorphosised (not sure if that's the word. what is?) into bigger green forms with wings.
(i'd seen these green forms earlier but until the metamorphosis happened, i used to think that they're a different species.)
# I talk to Gutur like he's a person and understands human language...even though pokes me with his beak and he flies back to his perch-thing everytime i do that. I also sing songs to him.
# I use lines like "The coffee is feeling happy" inbetween a normal conversation.
Have i turned into a full fledged weirdo?
Go comment. Please.

Things with wings...
... are fluttering in my life just now.
#1 There are tiny ochre-y coloured butterflies in my pseudo-garden which are fast, and hard to photograph. A few days back it had rained heavily ... and after that, i caught these tiny wonders sitting very peacefully on the purple wild flowers, sucking nectar. I went really close to them and they didn't seem to mind me or my camera at all ! Got some really cool shots of them :) You can see them HERE.
#2 I now have a pigeon in my life... Exactly how it came to us is a long story and so shall be skipped. The important thing is...it's a pigeon with an attitude. And why not? After all, it's a real live Masakali pigeon! (Picture) ...and he's beautiful. (Dad thinks it's a 'he') We're planning on calling him "Gutur" .. like in "guturgoo". He's all white and fluffy and can't fly much. I thought he couldn't fly at all until i found him sitting on my table and looking at me from above after I gave up looking for him under my bed! Teeheehee.
Now the problem is, we also have a cat. He doesn't stay with us, but visits us as many times a day as he feels hungry. And a pigeon ... would be a good meal. ... which means I have to be extra cautious and remember to shut the door everytime i leave the room. (Ahem. Won't be a problem. Elephant never forgets.)
In other news, I finally watched Kung fu Panda. If you haven't, DO! Go! Now!

Ever noticed how we need something in order not to need other things? ... how dependent we are on one thing so we wouldn't have to depend on other things?
How does that make sense? (and why does it work that way?)
Am i making sense?
---------------------
UPDATE:
Readers!
hi! could you address the more important question of how and why it works that way rather than just agreeing that i did after all make sense when i wrote this? Much as a like being flattered, i'd rather know other people's theories/opininons on this.
Thanks!
Cheers!

Awesome ...
.... and getting awesomer by the minute! I mean this in the context of photography.
(POST FOR JUNE 1ST)
What i think i actually mean .... is that I'm THOROUGLY ENJOYING all the time that i'm spending with my camera these days. All the trials, errors, blunders, disasters... and the rare good shots! I'm learning new things with every shot ... or so i'd like to believe. ;)
An importing thing i learned, which helped solve a lot of problems, was the importance of natural light. Its so much easier to take pictures outdoors. Especially since it also solves the problem of shaky hands.
Just now, since i'm mostly at home, i have to be content with taking macro shots of the phool-patti around... Sometimes portraits too, which i totally suck at. (Tinni takes awesome portraits.) But its fun to do marco shots and i think i'm getting better at them!
I've been going to our farm house/factory frequently. There's a lot of nature photography to do there, again mostly macro in my case. But it is a lot of fun. At this time of the year, its pretty bright even at 5p.m. and its almost the perfect time for photography.
Oh! i saw i real live snake there today! It was small. 1.5-2 feet only. But the lady who works there said it's poisonous. She said they call it 'harharia saanp'.
This month, i'm planning to take as many photos as i can and upload at least 3 photos a week on my Flickr and Deviantart accounts. If you happen to see them, do give me your views - i appreciate criticism!
Btw, there are loads of people with unbelievable amount of talent on these sites. It's a real honour to see their work ... and learn from it .. coz copying them is just not possible... real geniuses!!
----------------------------------
Enough about this now. Time for a celebration. Go get me one. Coz i got another awaaarrrdd ! :D Thanks Mads for this one ! :D

That's it from me for now.
Until next time ....

Exams over !! Phew !
College is over now . . . and I'm having a super-duper time with my aunt, sis, and niece, Reema -- one hyper 4 year old!
This is her on the trampoline.
This cute kid has all the qualities to make it big in the music industry. Makes her own music and lyrics.
Here's a masterpiece from her -- "tu meri hathodi pyaas pyaas, tu aa gai mann ko raas raas..."
:)
We went out for dinner yesterday. There . . .
Reema ( to the waiter) : Excuse me, mujhe straws chahiye.
(to us) : Main itne saare straws loongi ki 'excuse me' ke paas se saare khatam ho jayenge.
---- Yes, she thinks waiters are called 'excuse me' !!

Pardon The Vulgarity
This used to be my favourite song.
Its a song I listened to endlessly as a kid. . . Tried to copy those electric shock like dance moves to perfection. . . And sang along too. Of course without understanding the lyrics.
And I'm so glad I didn't. ;)
This isn't the gutar-gutar, mirchi-lagi variety. Nor the Sutta, Mini-skirt (ugh!) type.
It is a class apart.
An absolutely new level of insanity, vulgarity, and nonsense - weaved into deep, beautiful words.
And one of the few childhood faves that continues to remain on the favourites list even now, as an *ahem* adult.
Ladies and gentlemen!! Presenting..!!! THE song...
Muqabala SubhanAllah Laila oho laila
apna kafila
jab pyaar se chala
logon ka dil jala
yaaron ka dil mila
mohobbat ka yehi silsila (oley o!)
Muqala Muqabala laila oho laia
Muqabala SubhanAllah Laila oho laila
Jurassic Park mein sundar se jodey
jazz music gaye milke
Picasso ki painting mera peecha pakad ke
texas mein nach mil ke
cowboy dekhe mujhe
playboy chayre mujhe
sex mere tan mein ho
mix mere mann mein ho
pop music jaisi laila
strawberry jaise ankhen
love story ban jaane de
kick thodi chadh jaane de
hoton pey sab ke dil ka tarana hai
Muqala Muqabala laila oho laia
Muqabala SubhanAllah Laila oho laila
bandooken taan kar goli chalane se
pyaar kabhi marta hai kya
machli pakadne ka jaal bechhane se
amber ke tare phaste kya
bhukamp aaye to kyaa
bhumi fatt jayee to kya aasmaan jhukta nahin
pyaar kabhi rukta nahi
o mere pyaari maina pyaar ke do baatein karle
tera mera hoga sangam
jhoom jhoom nache gaye
khushiya humari saagar se leheraye
Muqala Muqabala laila oh ho laia
Muqabala SubhanAllah Laila oh ho laila

Learn to live on . . .
Or.
Learn! . . . and Live !!
"Part of us is always the observer, and no matter what, it observes. It watches us. It does not care if we are happy or unhappy, if we are sick or well, if we live or die. It’s only job is to sit there on our shoulder and pass judgment on whether we are worthwhile human beings."

My Pulsar and Ferrari
( Some people might find this gross. You have been warned )
I have a nature/animal loving family. There's always been at least one dog in the family since my father was little... and even before that.
Incidentally, most of them have either been called Bobby, Blaxie, Major ... or ..(very surprisingly) Kitty!!
Though dogs certainly have been the most popular pets, there have been pet cats [even wild ones ;)], birds, fish and loads of other animals too.
I've even seen my dad stroke and pet a frog!! And it didn't seem to mind in the least. :)
Also, since we've spent a lot of time in our village where there are all kinds of creatures, we're pretty used to being bitten by insects and not minding them. So it's weird (and amusing) when my friends go eeeek!, aarrghh!!, bhaagooo!! on spotting even the tiniest of insects.
This monsoon, some tiny snails managed to sneak into the house. This got me all excited ... and .. a lightning bolt of an idea struck me -- maybe they could be my pets? :D
So i got small box which had earlier contained chocolates, washed it clean, put pieces of some green veggies, put a small piece of chalk inside (in case they need calcium) and their home was ready! And then i put 2 snails in the box - the biggest and the smallest one.
...and they got names too!
This tiny one was call Ferrari
... and this one, Pulsar. (Pardon the bad photography. They're taken in bad light :-\)
Can't tell how proud i was of doing this ... my own pet snails!
Err... secretly, i also wanted to see if Pulsar would eat Ferrari. It didn't. :P
In fact they didn't do much. Eat-Sleep-Poop-Repeat was all they did.
Even so, except when i had to clean their box - which was every alternate day - i enjoyed their company :) ... and with all those nutritious green veggies, and my love and care, they grew too!
But damnit! All good/bad/creepy/slimy/gross things come to an end. No, they didn't die, silly! Winter was approaching...and i couldn't keep them without proper 'infrastructure' to keep them warm. I had to let them go to find a nice place to hibernate. Must say, even after 3 months of *ahem* love and care, the farewell wasn't quite teary-eyed enough. Hmm ... I wonder why...
We adopted a street pup recently and haven't named him yet. Can you suggest some good names? Oh, wait! Maybe we should name him Bobby? ... or Blaxie.. or Major??
PS: ... or FURarri ?? lol. :P

Change has come?
When i meet old school friends whom i haven't met for long, usually the first thing they say is: "HP! You haven't changed at all!"
--- Err... why exactly would i want to?
You've got to be the change you want to see in the world.
But you've also got to be the unchanged when you don't want things to change.
There will be awkward moments even with the bestest of friends. The thing to do is talk like you've never been apart...like nothing's changed..
..and nothing will change... unless it is for the better!!

HURRAAYYY !!
(Yes, yes. Thanks! Happy new year to you too! And hurray for the new year. But this isn't what the happiness is about. Its about.. well, read on!)
I met Somi - my funniest supperfriend. The one Tinni has written about over here. Stayed at her place for 3 days....and it was SO much funnn! Also because I've been lucky to have friends whose mums make the yummiest food... and because she took me to a bookstore despite her hatred for all kinds of books ;) [I bought a Garfield book too]
We met after a year! And yet it felt so normal... Of course it would... Richard Bach wrote in Jonathan Livingston Seagull: "Can miles truly separate you from friends... If you want to be with someone you love, aren’t you already there?" -- i do believe that friends are always together in spirit.
Other superfriends are here for their holidays. Three of us spent New Year's Eve together. We've been doing this since Class X. Its almost like a tradition now. The funny thing this time was, we almost didn't realise how close it was to midnight - and didn't count down at all. So busy catching up you see. :P
---------------------------------------------------
The good things aren't over yet! I have awesome friends on the blogosphere too.
I got awarded yet again! Thanks Aayushi! I love all things Abstract. :D
And Divya (Happy Belated Birthday to her!) tagged me - but i've done this one already. Twice. But thanks for remembering me! :D (And sorry for not being able to wish you earlier. Wasn't in town. Hope you had a great time. Yet to read the post. The cake looks yummy!)
Signing off now. Hopefully, there'll be more happiness to report this year.
Ciao !
